And the F(ail)-35 is slated to replace all of them... *sigh*

I feel your pain. I am stunned by the short sighted, incompetence and greed of our politicians and the current attitude of the leaders in all branches of the military who think losing capability in all areas of our air power while exponentially increasing cost is somehow O.K. All the tricks in the book will be useless in the face of being vastly outnumbered and out performed buy aircraft designed for specific rolls, working together, especially if we can't afford to lose aircraft because they are too expensive to be replaced. IMHO the F-35 can not fill the roll of any of the aircraft in this image, and nobody seems to care. Sorry for the rant, my friends and I are in shock over the capability drawdown and the financial irresponsibility.  Waaaah! CURSE YOU! I think I've fainted. Confused frustrated

Hey man, I understand. The F-35 is an enormous waste of time, money and resources that can't do anything it's supposed to; a master of NONE. And these politicians and armchair generals are saying "Oh, the A-10 isn't PRETTY enough to keep" and replacing it with this piece of shit that can't do anything it's supposed to. It's DISGRACEFUL that they think they can put our troops in danger like that, taking away planes that they "don't want" anymore when our infantry depends on, no, NEEDS those aircraft to survive! I think I read about maybe ONE senator, Kelly Ayotte, standing against the F-35, or at least against retiring the A-10, which is a start.

I forget where I read it, but there was an article that they actually had to lower the standards of flight testing for the F-35 to pass- so they basically cheated to get it through testing. And another article said that even if it does get through development hell it'll have to be supported by the very aircraft it's supposed to replace, because it's that vulnerable. Love the emoticons, by the way; summarizes the situation perfectly.

I miss working on these aircraft..

There are vast differences between the C model and the E model F-15. The C model is a single seat aircraft, while the E model is a two seat variant and is the most advanced of the three models (C, D and E). The D model is a glorified taxi and serves no real purpose.

That F-16 is a C model, the two seat variant is a D model but there are older models still in use such as the A and B models.
